Troubling Times

So many disasters coming quickly one after the other, the earthquake in Christchurch last month, another earthquake in Yunnan and barely a couple of days later the massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan.....are these the signs of the endtimes?

Each incident appears to be intensifying in the violence of its happening.

The t.v. footage showed the horror of the huge black tsunami engulfing the harbour, swiping the ships and smashing the buildings as it surged mercilessly inland. An alert was sent out to the international community warning them of the tsunami, so that they would be more prepared this time. The previous tsunami triggered off by the earthquake in Indonesia in 2004 had taken thousands of lives in countries across the oceans.

In the Middle East the countries are hit by internal strifes and thousands of people have been displaced or killed. Uprisings against authoritarian rulers reminiscent of great revolutions in the past are causing great concern all over the world. It's like a fever that can be very catching. Uneasy must be the head that wears the crown.

What can we do in such times? Mother Nature's might and wrath cuts us down to size. How puny and helpless man is. Yet in the war-torn countries, the suffering is of man's own doing.

When will man realise there is a higher authority that is above such pettiness, such huge egos? It would be better for man to step back and reflect on his deeds/misdeeds and pray for salvation before we go too far down the path of self-destruction.
